Our Approach

Data-driven

At Promotehour, we use latest discovery tools to create a PR strategy for your Startup to maximize the odds of getting Coverage.

Stories with Psychological triggers

We create stories that are likely to generate Journalist's interest in your startup. At the same time, they co-relate with a wider audience.

Symmetric Messaging

Using same pitch to TechCrunch journalist and BuzzFeed journalist is suicidal. That's why we craft a personalized email to each journalist based on his interests and his target audience.

Engagement Tracking & Actions

We track journalist's engagement with our pitch to reveal their level of interest and take most efficient action.

I used the coverage plan for my wearables company Opter (opterlife.com) and had a pretty good experience. Our Google search rankings went up a lot after all the submissions. The professional email pitch must have been good, since we saw an excellent response from journalists. We got sample requests from NBC News, Mental Floss, The Guardian, and The Evening Standard. Jit and Mona are really nice people, so you're in good hands.

- Chalisa P, CEO & Founder of Opter

Promotehour was successful in getting me the app review I needed at a very cost effective price point. They delivered results! Look no further.
- Garin Toren, CEO & Founder of messageLOUD

I've tried some 20 to 30 different journalism platforms and some at ridiculous prices. Promotehour turned out to be the best among all!

What is PR Campaign?

PR campaign is a media outreach activity business carries out when it has an important update to share with media outlets like startup launch, fund-raising, new version launch, key hiring, milestones, etc.

Why PR is important for a startup?

It helps you get press coverage in media outlets your potential customers read daily. It directly helps you get more customers, raise investor interest, hire awesome people and ultimately overall growth of the startup.
Good press coverage have turned small startups like Snapchat in billion dollars companies.

Can you brief me the process of the Done for You PR Campaign?

1. Once you sign up for Done for You Campaign, we request you to fill up a short questionnaire.
2. Based on the info provided by you, we get an understanding of what startup does, the problem it is solving, startups in similar space and the type of audience startup are targeting.
3. We come up with an angle for the story and prepare the pitch as well as the resource page for Journalist, sort of press kit.
4. During the campaign we execute 2 different methodologies to increase the effectiveness of the campaign:

A. We build a list of 50 most relevant journalists as well as 500 relevant media outlets. This makes sure the outreach is really personalized and outlets/journalists.
B. We also do 1-on-1 outreach to 500 relevant media outlets who might be interested in covering the story.
We connect you to the interested journalists and follow up with the ones who don’t respond to our first email.

Do you write the press release? What do I need to provide?

Yes, we write the press release ( i.e. media ready resource page) as well as email pitch. You just have to fill up a short questionnaire.

How much time does it take?

The campaign usually takes 2-3 weeks from the time you sign up.

What can I expect from the PR campaign?

We have been in your shoes. The last thing we want to do is take your money and don't deliver any value. We will do our best to deliver a good coverage in prominent media outlet for your startup.
With high rewards, comes high risk.
Even though we are well connected with journalists, we don’t guarantee media coverage. We can't control what they choose to write and when in fact no PR agency in the world can. So, if the first round of outreach doesn't get us a story, we will do another round of outreach for no extra cost. At the same time, we also keep following up with journalists who are interested as well as track the web for any press mentions.

How can you be so affordable compared to other PR agencies?

Getting coverage is all about effective messaging to the right set of media outlets at the right time. We have figured out a process where we can do it cost-effectively for founders, web developers and product makers. We like to call it "Lean-PR".

Do you also work with apps/games / gadgets / crowd-funding campaigns?

Yes! We have helped apps, games, campaigns get coverage in the past.

Which media outlets and journalists you target?

We pitch to all the top media outlets as well as niche media outlets which are relevant to your startup. E.g. if you have built a productivity app, we will pitch to the likes of TechCrunch, NextWeb as well as Lifehacker, PickTheBrain, etc.

Can I see few case studies?

Here are some of the stories we have got for our clients: TechCrunch
VentureBeat
The Next Web
ReadWrite
InMan
MacObserver
AppAdvice PlayBoy
Imaging Resoure
CMSWire
Devex
PlayBoy
AndroidGuys
Yahoo

How does it compare with PRNewsWire or PR Agencies?

Press release services guarantee you coverage which they drive by syndication with media companies. But such coverage drives little to zero traffic to your site which is the actual purpose of the coverage, because syndicated stories never appear on the homepage of media outlet. To make matter worse, Google had come hard on press releases in their Panda update. So, such stories don't even appear in search results.
On other side, PR agencies can add value but they cost $5000/month with annual retainer contracts. Way beyond entrepreneur’s budget is the startup is not funded.
Through the well tuned process, we bring affordability to the PR space with effectiveness on par with PR agencies.
